When one accounts the memories of the day our Josephites had on the merry monsoon morning of 15th July 2025, the impressionable words of the Godfather of Cinema, Mr. Martin Scorsese come to mind - “Every film is a journey, an exploration, a quest to bring the extraordinary into the ordinary. It’s not just about what we see, but about how deeply we feel.” Some films entertain us while some leave us with food for thought, but Sitaare Zameen Par had our young Josephian hearts laughing and souls touched.
In collaboration with The Tribune, Chandigarh, the youthful subscribers of Grades 7- 10 embarked on an excursion to Bestech Square Mall, Mohali for a matinee screening of the movie Sitaare Zameen Par. Consumed with joy and curiosity, the buses were abuzz with excitement for a movie day with friends. Little did they know that the movie would not just satisfy their entertainment streak but also leave impressions in their heart.
With popcorn on the left and drinks on the right, the students were in for a 3 hour journey of mirthful laughter, moments of introspection and the absorption of a deeper message conveyed so effortlessly by the commendable starcast. The acknowledgement of the need to normalise and include children with Down Syndrome and Autism was a subject beautifully brought to the screen through the medium of the Cinematic Arts. The clay like minds of our Josephians were moulded gently and gracefully with the crafty touch of wisdom, inclusivity and humour.
Such opportunities when rightfully utilised become a portal of education that comes with an experience. We are thankful to the team of The Tribune for their thoughtful initiative in curating such an enriching experience. Our esteemed Principal Ms. Monica Chawla was delighted to hear about the students’ takeaways from the movie day and we thank her guided vision that helped our Josephites in bringing back smiles and stories. Our heartfelt gratitude to the Members of the Management for giving our students such golden frames of joy and the opportunity to explore outside the realm of textbooks.
