Kindergarten wing of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh immersed in yellow hue as the tiny tots celebrated Basant Panchami, an Indian festival also known as the Festival of Kites. The significance lies in the worship of Goddess Saraswati, symbol of wisdom and also the onset of spring season. The association of yellow colour is supposed to be the fields of mustard that can be seen in all over. All the students and teachers donned yellow coloured attires and relished sweet yellow rice, a traditional dessert especially made on this day. Children enjoyed colouring the worksheets based on the festival. Tiny tots as well as their teachers enjoyed the ritual of kite flying on the occasion to celebrate freedom and enjoyment. Kids were given kite shaped take-aways while way back home. The whole day was full of mirth and each one enjoyed to the hilt.
