Kindergarten block of St.Joseph’s Sr. Sec.School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh observed an array of innovative activities following “Activity Month”. Toddlers of Nursery seemed engaged in peeling pea-pods, taking out peas and keeping them safely in a bowl. A number of grains i.e.pulses, rice, wheat, rajma were inter mixed and tiny tots were asked to segregate them and put each one in separate containers. To play an interesting game “Color Hunt” they were taken to school garden and instructed to hunt for different colored objects hidden there at varied places. These activities were planned to hone the motor skills of the toddlers.
There was a Self-introductory session for Pre K.G. students who took the stage and spoke confidently about their family, friends and personal traits in front of their peers and teachers. It gave a boost to their communication and public speaking skills.
While playing “Brain Gym” it was a time for some mental exercises for K.G. students. They systematically arranged numbers and letters scattered in haphazard manner, on magnetic board, assembled the missing parts of grid puzzle and performed some exercises using right and left, hand and eye coordination. They also enjoyed Tambola game based on numbers and words.
On the whole, all these fun-filled creative activities were inclusive and exciting that helped in satiating the curiosity of young minds and empowered them with knowledge.
