 BAISAKHI CELEBRATION

“Wheat crop is ready for harvest.
Time to rejoice and feel nice
Fruits to reap of blood and sweat,
And get joyous and celebrate life.”
 
With this spirit the Primary-2 Wing of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh celebrated Baisakhi with gusto and religious fervour. A special assembly was conducted by the students of class V to welcome the harvest season. The students highlighted the religious and cultural significance of the festival in an enlightening speech. A beautiful poem was recited which added flavour to celebration.
On the onset of Sikh New Year and the founding of the Khalsa Panth, the students performed the traditional Bhangra, which depicted the real life of farmers of Punjab.
Every one watched an awe-inspiring Gatka- the Sikh’s traditional martial art form performed by Tej Pratap Singh of class V which left the students spellbound.
The motive behind the celebrations was to apprise the students of the rich culture and heritage of Punjab.
The Principal Ms. Monica Chawla conveyed her best wishes to all and blessed everyone with the bounty of the season and a harvest of joy and prosperity.
