THE SCIENCE OF TODAY IS THE TECHNOLOGY OF TOMORROW.
National Technology Day was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chd. Every year on May 11th Josephians come forward to acknowledge the huge technological advancements made over the years. May 11th has a special significance since it was the day that India’s first indigenous aircraft was test flown and it is also the anniversary of Shakti- the three successful nuclear tests conducted in Pokharan.
Technology is fast permeating every aspect of our lives; right from our humble kitchen appliances to rocket science we have technology to thank. It empowers people to do what they want to do – it gives wings to their creativity and productivity. However, there are always two sides to a coin and so is the case here. Technology has its side effects too and potential hazards escalate if not used judiciously. Students of Class VII held a Group Discussion to debate the pros and cons of having technology as such an integral part of our lives. Technology encompasses such a vast arena of activities that students were engrossed completely and had enormous contributions of their own to make. When it comes to the latest cars, mobiles , aircrafts etc there is no one better informed than the students of this age group. The activity was a huge success since the topic of discussion was one that was so close to their hearts. As Freeman Dyson rightly said, “Technology is a gift of God. After the gift of life, it is perhaps the greatest of God’s gifts. It is the mother of civilization ; of art; and of the sciences.”
