Celebrtaing Mothre’s Day at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44- D, Chandigarh is a time honoured tradition faithfully carried out every year. However, it seems that one single day cannot possibly encompass all the love and gratitude that we owe our mother. So, weeklong activities take place in celebration of the unique power that God has bestowed upon a woman the unique power – of giving birth; the supreme ability of infusing life into a being – a power akin to that of the Almighty himself. And so here we are – giving thanks for this wondrous creation of God- for the creator on earth – our mother. Without her we are nonexistent – we have no identity. She infuses life into us, nurtures us and protects us from every evil and harm. It is only befitting that we ensure that this day holds a special meaning for her.

At St. Joseph’s, various competitions were held to bring forth the abundant love of the Josephians for their mother. Students of Class VI were assigned the task of designing jewellery albeit of a different kind. They created unique designs of jewellery using the method of Paper Quilling. The outcome was outstanding. The intricate patterns the neatness and the colour combinations created were amazing.

Poetry Writing Competition organised for Class VII also brought their poetic flair to the front. Children wrote self composed poems which were heartfelt and depicted their deep love and devotion.

An Inter House Dry Flower Arrangement Competition was conducted for Class VIII. The eye catching colours and the attractive arrangements were indeed a feast for the eyes. All the students poured their hearts out to ensure that their message ‘I love You, Mom’ was broadcast loud and clear through their ingenious output.

Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla was over awed by the marvellous efforts put in by the Josephians. She congratulated the students and praised them for their exceptional lady whom they proudly call ‘mom’.
