 Talent Hunt

An air of excitement filled the halls of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D on Saturday, the 29th of April, as the students of Ashoka House organised a Talent Hunt – in search of the finest talent within the Secondary Block. An overwhelming response was encouraging, as students came forward to display their immense talents in various artistic fields. Young talented singers belted out songs in Punjabi, English and Hindi. The melodious voices echoed in the halls of the School. One was reminded of the famous saying “Use what talents you possess – the woods will be very silent, if no birds sang there except those that sang best.” Next came the ever graceful dancers who captivated the audience, Both Indian classical and western dances captured the imagination of everyone. The elegant moves, the colourful costumes added that special touch to the powerful performances. Youngsters strummed on the guitar and created the most magical sounds – truly talent was at its very best. The mimicry artists entertained and kept the audience spell – bound with their enormous talent. Poetry recitation was another arena where students surprised everyone with their amazing  oratory skills. Infact, a few students recited self-composed poems, much to the delight of everyone. Deft fingers were at work to set the rubik cube to its perfect colour combination. Excited faces in the audience cheered on their classmates to set the cube faster than their competitors. Sketchers and painters were given themes to draw on. The artists were engrossed in bringing their works of art alive with their creativity. The young magicians also cast their spell as they pulled out many a trick from their mysterious hats. The students were judged by the music, dance and art teachers of the school. The winners of the various competitions were awarded for their excellent performances. Truly, a rewarding and fun-filled day at school. Yet again the children proved that there is no such thing as a great talent, without great will-power. They say – “If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don’t hoard it – spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.” These hidden skills are indeed God’s gift – what you do with them, is your gift back to God. True – so very true! Proven without doubt, in the walls of a school called St. Joseph’s.
