A hectic yet fruitful day for the students of the secondary block of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, as the youngsters went beyond the routine of class-room learning and had a collage making competition with the given theams- ‘car free day’ for class IX and ‘clean up the world’ for class X respectively. Meaningful pictures were placed by the students of class X on their charts with thought provoking slogans on the given topic. One read-‘planet earth is my home-help me keep it clean.’ purposeful and effectively put across. Class IX on the other hand, also put up their charts in an interesting manner. An eye- catching slogan on the theme-‘ car free day’ read- ‘every time I see an adult on bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human-race’. It was not just an activity but a great learning for the students on how to present the collages in most creative way. The morning also had students speak during the assembly on Gandhi Jyanti and reasons for Gandhi ji being the man decorated with the prestigious title of the father of the nation. His numerous achievements were eloquently spoken about. The highlights of the speeches ranged from Gandhi ji’s satyagraha campaign with South Africa; the non cooperation movement in the early 1920’s, the famous salt March to dandi, the quit India movement in 1942- just to mention a few. Fitting tribute to the most prominent leaders of the indian independence movement-to the tallest leader that this nation has ever known- The Mahatma
