With the board examinations round the corner, the Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s address on ‘Pareeksha Pe Charcha’ was relayed live by the national broadcaster for the students of the country on how to cope with examination blues. The programme was based on PM’s latest book ‘Exam Warriors’ released on Feb 3, 2018 and offered mantras on how to approach examinations. He himself stated, “I have chosen to write on a subject that is close to my heart, and one that is fundamental to my vision for a youth driven and youth led tomorrow”. St. Joseph’s Sen. Sec. School, Chandigarh, too availed the opportunity by putting up the screen of PM’s live broadcast for the students.
Mr. Modi made the moment historic, by saying that exams are an exercise and do not demonstrate superiority over others but tests an individuals’ ability and capability. He suggested students to treat examinations ‘like a festival’ and play with them to shine, as with this approach months of preparation and hardwork will boil down to the few hours in the examination hall. He also highlighted the importance of unwinding some time out of the grueling academic routine as mind is like a parachute and works when open. He further stressed on performing Yoga and practicing ‘Surya Namaskar’ and ‘Pranayama’ during exams as they work as stress relievers and concentration boosters. The role of Teachers and Parents as true mentors also cannot be overlooked as they play a dynamic role in shaping the individual.
As a sequel to ‘Mann ki Baat’, he reached out to the students for the third time. He motivated the students to consider exams as an opportunity of self growth and belief in oneself stressing on Swami Vivekanand’s philosophy of ‘Ahm Brahmasmi”, in an interactive, non-preachy, practical and thought provoking manner. Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla too, appreciated the laudable efforts of the PM and and his deep concern for board exam appearing students. She also called it an urgent need of the hour.
