To commemorate the Labour Day and to appreciate and thank the selfless service of the uncles and aunties, who work with full dedication and ensure the hygiene and security of school, the students
of St. Joseph’s School, Chandigarh celebrated Labour Day on 1st May. The function kicked off with a speech welcoming the workers and acknowledging their hard work. The students were acquainted with the history behind Labour Day celebrations. The informative speech was followed by a melodious song. The Josephians with their rhythmic steps magnificently showcased their dancing skills. Then a poem by a child landed the ceaseless efforts of the work force of the nation and the school in particular students expressed their gratitude towards them by giving them cards along with various titles. A play depicting ‘dignity of labour’ motivated the audience to give them their due share of respect. Workers were enjoying the day indulged in dancing on their favourite songs. They were looking delighted while planting the saplings. School Principal Ms. Monica Chawla congratulated the workers and thanked them for their selfless services. They were presented their portraits as a small token of love. Ms. Chawla said the future generations need to be made aware of the importance of the working class. After this, the school chairman focused on the priceless contribution of the workers for the smooth functioning of the institution. The ceremony came to a close with recital of the school anthem. Workers were overwhelmed watching the function and expressed a vote of thanks towards the school management, teachers and students for their endeavor. The students learnt valuable lessons in dignity of labour and respecting workers for toiling tirelessly.
