The Department of environment Chandigarh administration and Yuvsatta had organised    Environment Celebrations at Elante mall to mark World Environment Day on June 5th 2018. The theme of this years’s Environment Day was “Beat Plastic Pollution”. St Joseph’s Sr Sec School , Sec 44D Chandigarh bagged the first position as“THE BEST ECO CLUB “ of the tricity for their outstanding activities in creating environmental awareness in the society.The award was handed over by T.C Nautiyal conservator of forest ,secretary Chandigarh Pollution Board to Principal Ms Monica Chawla . The school was also proud to receive a cash prize of Rs 10000 , a trophy and a certificate.In this context various competitions like Poster Making , Slogan Writing , Green Quiz and Short Play contest was held on the theme“Beat Plastic Pollution”.The students of St Joseph’s brought laurels to the school by winning First Position in Poster Making and Short Play competitions.The entire team of the Show play received huge rounds of apples from the audience as well as the judges .The They also bagged two consolation in Poster Making and answered most of the questions  correctly in the Open Green Quiz among all other schools and received cloth bags for every correct answer.The school felt honoured to receive the trophy for the short play by Agus Indra Udayana, the Indonesian Gandhi A puppet show was conducted based on effects of plastic pollution by the young  talented Josephians which really thrilled and captivated the minds of the audience. The function had a huge gathering of students and staff of St Joseph’s along with various other schools and teachers. To sum up  the entire day was a memorable one for the Josephian family as the school’s name was in the air and also had received many awards. Principal Ms Monica Chawla thanked the school management for their unconditional support and the staff for their teamwork which has resulted for the success.The event concluded with a happy note to “Save Earth From The Drastic Plastic”by pledging to use less plastic and replace it with biodegradable material.
