A Mock Drill was conducted at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh as a part of disaster management to practice the safety measures and the evacuation procedure from the school building during any emergency situation. Over the years St. Joseph’s has developed comprehensive emergency management techniques to effectively coordinate and respond during all kinds of crisis situations. The evacuation began immediately after a long, distinctive warning bell that was rung to alert the students and staff alike. The students were escorted from their classrooms and guided by their teachers to assemble in the ground. Within 4 minutes the entire school had assembled in the ground, where attendance was taken to ensure that no child had been left behind. The Josephians were advised not to panic, to remain with teachers and follow all instructions.
This Life- Safety Drill encourages students and staff to think through their emergency response during the drill and later on to review and discuss risk reduction and response measures. All in all it was another successful attempt at preparing for any unforeseen disaster.
