Good manners and habits formed in early childhood go a long way in making children good human beings and play an eminent role in developing their overall personality. The teachers of KG in Kindergarten block of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh presented a skit to teach the students good manners in an entertaining way. They formed two groups – one representing ill-mannered children and the other, well-mannered one. They enacted like their students and exhibited their different behavioral patterns and various activities performed by them inside and outside the classrooms. The mentors differentiated between the good and the bad habits by presenting same tasks in both ways one by one and encouraged them to adopt the good ones only.
The tiny tots enjoyed watching their teachers portraying their own sitting, reading, writing, walking and eating habits and promised to reform their ways. They were also taught the value of five magic words i.e. thank-you, welcome, sorry, please and excuse me. The whole activity was dramatic and educative in the way that the children were able to connect themselves with their teachers and thus learnt etiquettes in a fun-filled manner, away from the monotony of blackboard teaching.
