Industrial Revolution 4.0: Are we ready?

We now face the task of creating a new nation from the Fourth Industrial Revolution powered by internet of things and big data to developing cyber physical systems and smart factories. Keeping the same in mind, the Tagore House of St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School under the aegis of   Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society, Chandigarh Administration, on 24 August, 2018, organized an Inter-house debate for the students of Secondary Block on Industrial Revolution 4.0: Are we ready?” The science of today is the technology of tomorrow, therefore, the fourth Industrial Revolution is barreling towards us at a breakneck speed. The industry is on the verge of emerging anew in varied patterns. Everything is being reshaped by the young minds that are wider than the sky and deeper than the sea.

Concluding  that we are prepared to face it. Following the same the debate initiated with full zest among the participants. The participants had left no stone unturned in researching their topic and presenting them convincingly, which was followed by a rebuttal. The audience too became vigilant and posed relevant questions which acted as a catalyst in promoting the discussion. The debate enabled the debaters to elucidate their standpoint by utilizing rhetorical eloquence, instilled confidence and taught the skill of researching, organizing and presenting information in a compelling fashion.

Ms Jyothi, Coordinator, Primary II Block and Ms Ranipal, Coordinator, Middle Block had kindly consented to be the jury. In debate, Shreya Chawla and Amisha Kanwar of class X, bagged the first position and Gunjan Sabharwal of Class IX got the second position. The judges, at the end, motivated the students to continue participating with the same zeal.

Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla, appreciated the students and told them that the most important tactic in an argument, next to being right, is to leave an escape hatch for your opponent, so that he can gracefully swing over to your side without an embarrassing loss of face. She further stated that by understanding and adapting to this changing reality, by investing in our students and by taking in human centric view, we at St. Joseph’s will lend a helping hand in shaping the future as it will transform young minds before our eyes.
