St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School hosted an Essay Writing Competition and Painting Competition on the topic ‘Corruption Free India’. It was organized by the Department of India Posts. The students openly condemned all the factors that give rise to the greed for money and power which in turn creates a monster of corruption. They talked about the introduction of demonetisation of rupees 500 and 1000initiated by our Prime Minister to eradicate black money which is also one of the result of corruption. The remedial measures suggested in their writings included following the comprehensive code of conduct for politicians and law making bodies and strict enforcement of the same. The role of NGO’s and media to combat this evil was also mentioned by them. Greasing someone’s palm in a government office has become rampant in our country and it can be checked by means of education and appropriate punishment. The students also made beautiful paintings on this topic. The Head of the Department of India Posts , Mr. Paramjit Singh gave away the prizes to the winners of the school and appreciated their efforts and interest in participating in such competitions. The school Principal, Ms Monica Chawla was overwhelmed to see the expression and viewpoint of the students for making India ,a corruption free nation.
