On the occasion of Earth Day that is celebrated each year on the 22nd of April, the students of the Secondary block at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School carried out various activities during the week to mark this momentous and all important day. Ashoka House organized a caption contest, wherein a picture related to nature was to be given an appropriate caption. The response to this contest was
most encouraging as students expressed themselves in well worded and suitable captions. A great way for students to express their thoughts. Students of Ashoka House also embellished the board on Earth day and put up appropriate quotations. Students of classes IX and X were also given a theme – “The beauties of a plant called Earth” and it is on this, that the class boards were decorated. Fitting and tastefully done up boards enhanced the beauty of the corridors of the Secondary block. The fun of doing these activities, is an all important aspect of the learning process and the students look forward to doing them in their own creative ways. Through the week these activities have kept the youngsters occupied and have been a novel way for children to understand the value of our planet and pay their tribute of it. Also, great learnings of being responsible humans, residing on the most unique and special of all planets in the entire galaxy – a planet called Earth.
