The Senior Secondary block at St. Josephs Secondary School, Secondary School, Sector 44- D, held the orientation programme for the parents on the 1st of April. This programme is conducted every year at the beginning of each session to enable parents to understand the essentials of the secondary block and the new curriculum. Since the students in these new classes prepare themselves for the board exams, an understanding of the requirements thus becomes important. During the Orientation, the assessment structure for the Scholastic and Co- scholastic areas was told to the parents. Issues relating to discipline were emphasized upon. Students were given guidelines for self- study. The rules and regulations to be followed were reiterated to remind parents and students of their importance. Programmes followed in the school eg. STEM, Robotics were also made a mention of. To cater to the academic requirements of the students, mentoring and doubt clearing classes are regularly held at the school- a briefing of the same was also done for the parents to recognize the importance of this all important learning session. The peer mentoring, done on a weekly basis was also mentioned. Another unique programme, the star card, which is followed in the school to recognize the achievements of students in the Scholastic and Co- scholastic arenas, was emphasized upon. Safety rules for children were addressed to assure parents that their wards were studying in a safe environment.
The Principal Ms. Monica Chawla spoke to the gathering and stressed on the need for students to put in their very best from the beginning of the session itself and to work and strive towards perfection.She also spoke on the need to be persistent in one’s work. She wished the students the very best and hoped the parents would co-operate with the school, for it is this, that is eventually in the best interest of the child.
