An Eye Check Up Camp was held in the premises of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44- D, Chandigarh on May 21,2019. A team of Eye Specialists headed by Mr. Joginder Kumar from Grewal Eye Institute, sector 9-C, Chandigarh visited the school to do the eye check up of the students from Classes III to V of Primary II Block of the school.
The doctors brought well equipped eye examination tools to examine the students effectively. They also spoke to the students about how to increase awareness and improve access to eye healthcare services. Through this interaction students were made familiar with different aspects of eye care. The attendees with eye problems requiring continued medical attention were given referral slips.
The objective of this event was to spread knowledge about various eye disorders, their early detection and eye ailments among school children.
The school principal, Ms. Monica Chawla expressed her gratitude towards the team of doctors for rendering their services to the school. She stated that “Eyes play an important role in the functioning of human body.Life would be sheer darkness if vision is lost.”therefore, this camp would bring a change in behavior of students and they would now start taking preventive measures to avoid any kind of eye ailments.
