Close to 40 students and 6 teachers marked their attendance. The teachers initially briefed the students about essence of yogic exercises on health of individuals and there after warm up exercises were taken up by all. Different asanas like surya namaskarasana which improves flexibility, reduces stress and controls blood pressure. Tatasana known for strengthing knees ankles, uttanasana that relieves stress and anxiety, Kapalabhati, Dhanurasana etc. were performed by all presen.Students were updated that yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide to develop the habit of meditation among youngsters so that they can enjoy more peace of mind and self awareness which is essential for stress free existence.The principal Mrs. Monica Chawla motivated students to carry the baton of yoga to make their life peaceful meaningful and healthy. She also thanked the students and teachers who spared their time during vacations to mark this day.The celebration lasted for an hour and a half and ended up with synchronized recitation of Shalokas.

Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition to the world. St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School celebrated 5th International Yoga Day on 21st June 2019.
