Students of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School Sector-44 visited Akal Old Age Home, Rattwara Sahib, to mark the Teacher’s Day Celebrations. The visit was not only a philanthropic endeavour but a magnificent, emotional and an eye opening experience for the students as well. It is said that Life’s perfect pattern includes youth and maturity but more help and care is needed with aging of life. The students and teachers experienced that despite leading life of hardships there was warmth and a sense of belongingness. Elder adults were witnessed sharing their childhood memories with the students. The anecdotes shared by them spoke volumes of the spirit in them to live life and fight loneliness by occupying themselves by singing, dancing, reading books and indulging in various activities.The residents of old age home were very cordial and friendly. Donations in kind, were made for the elders by the Josephian family .The students took a step ahead to break monotony of their lives by singing songs and dancing. Efforts were also made to make them sing, dance on their favourite numbers. After a brief visit the students felt revival of love for their family and specially grandparents.Director, Mr. Rupinder Singh Grewal appreciated the venture undertaken by Josephian teachers and students. Sir said that it is vitally important to learn and practice the art of helping others, we can’t walk in other’s shoes but we can walk side by side and support each other.
