“Let’s nurture the nature, so that we can have a better future”
We, the St Joseph family strongly believe that environment is everything that determines our lives and advocates a partnership between each human being and society to ensure a safe future.
With an aim to bring about behavioural change in Indians, where they begin to value cleanliness not just at the personal but also at the public level, St Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 D took a great initiative by participating in a campaign ‘Plastic Free Chandigarh’ under the ‘ Swachhata Hi Sewa’ programme , at Central Plaza, Sector 17 which was launched by Manoj Kumar Parida, Advisor to the UT administrator on Wednesday. Mayor Rajesh Kumar and Municipal Commissioner KK Yadav were also present. Under this campaign, the activities will be carried out in three phases. In Phase 1(from September 11 to October 1), preparation and awareness generation will be carried out. Similarly, under Phase 2 on October 2, Shramdan as mass movement will be started. In Phase 3 (October 3 to October 27) the administration will encourage the people to recycle or dispose the collection of plastic waste.
The event witnessed participation from more than 11 cities. Around 17 schools of the city participated in it. The campaign has been woven around the concept of children having emerged as significant influences in the behavior of the general public . Students representing different schools, raised slogans and displayed posters, mirroring the dire need of a Plastic Free Chandigarh. Having always being the torchbearers in propagating eco friendly products, this time too, the Josephians became the role model for others for genuinely using plastic free substances. By holding banners and placards made up of paper and environment friendly material they stood out and well appreciated by all.
