Young Josephite receives Global Youth Peace Ambassador Award at Maldives GYPAT training Programme

Shreya Chawla a class XI Josephite being  a committed  student, an exceptional orator, poet and artist,  a passionate big-wig enthralled St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. family at United Nation’s –Asia Pacific  Climate  week  at Bangkok-UN (2nd Sep – 6th Sep 2019) followed by being bequeathed  with the title of ‘Child Advocate for global Peace Award for being one  of the youngest’ at Global Youth Peace Training Program, Maldives for her active participation through exceptional oratory skills.

This platform was an eye opener to the factors causing climate change. Shreya Chawla being a prompt activist, dynamic partaker was on her toes throughout, to put forth her suggestions and practices. During the Action Hub Session due to her active participation/ dynamism   she was given chance to deliver a speech and voice her opinion on the topic “Role of Youth in tackling Climate Change”. Shreya received a thunderous clap for her suggestions of ‘Buyerarchy of Needs’ and ‘SAVE our planet Earth’ where ‘SAVE’ is expanded as S– Sustainable growth plan, A-Action on Sustainable growth plan ,V– Volunteering for the sustainable growth plan and E– Exemplifying the change. She was further endorsed as a panellist in another session.  The cherry on the top was that Shreya Chawla was also interviewed by the governing entities for her prestigious contribution and project ‘No Plastic’.  Shreya Chawla quoted that “Lets fight World War 3 of Man versus Climate Change, where life wins over death, where ecological stability wins over economic growth, where creation wins over destruction and where human wisdom wins over climate change.” Shreya Chawla said that it was indeed moment of pride for her to meet Noble Laureate- Rae Kwon Chung-UNESCAP, Aneta S. Nikolova  the Environment Affairs Officer UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Mr.Ovais Sarmad- Sectary of UNFCCC and many more.

Shreya Chawla’s successful visit was followed by a training program to spread and maintain peace at Maldives. During the  Global Youth Peace Ambassador Training Program, she did not flinch in expressing her confident and vibrant presence by reciting self-composed poems on her experience at the training program and articulating her views during the concluding ceremony.  Due to her surpassing involvement and excellent approach Shreya was bestowed with golden opportunity as she was officially declared a Peace Ambassador. Shreya felt immense pleasure on being presented with ‘Child Advocate for global Peace Award for being the youngest’ by Mr. Charles from Asia Economic Forum, Ms. Judith Claridades from U.S. Dept. of Veteran Affairs and   Ms. Rafiya the Deputy leader at Maldives Development Alliance (MDA). Shreya Chawla quoted that “It was an illuminating experience that has made liberated me perusing my future action plan in a resilient manner.”Mr. Rupinder Singh Grewal Director of the school appreciated Shreya Chawla’s glorious achievement. Sir congratulated the proud parents and Shreya for being honoured as ‘Global Youth Peace Ambassador’ at such a young age. Sir said that Shreya’s achievement and participation was a tremendous step towards the change that we wish to see as a projection of sustainable development. During the special honouring ceremony he instilled in students hope to learn, approach situations in an array of diverse manners which enhances creative thinking and unique learning.
