St Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh, always a front runner in creating awareness about various red letter occasions, marked the 150th Birth Anniversary of our Beloved Bapu’- The Father of Our Nation with great zeal and enthusiasm. Mahatma Gandhi- a name synonymous with Peace and Goodwill has inspired millions across the world with his concepts of non violence and restraint even in the face of violence.
Week long celebrations with various activities and competitions were held within and outside the school premises to celebrate the legacy of Gandhiji. Apart from all these, some events were also organized as per directions received by The District Education Department, UT. The Josephians participated in the ‘Cycle Yatra’ which flagged off from the school with full gusto and eagerness with the blessings of Principal Ms. Monica Chawla.
The Nukkad Natak team of thespians who have received well deserved acclaim all over the city, performed a skit on the theme of ‘Drug Abuse’ and the trauma associated with it. They were applauded and showered with accolades for their enactment that caused everyone to erupt in goosebumps at their vivid and dynamic portrayal of a drug addict’s plight.
The Josephians also ventured out on mission Shramdaan wherein they took up the cudgels to maintain cleanliness in and around their institution and create awareness about the same wherever they went.
All these activities, now a regular feature at St. Joseph’s ensures that the Josephians stay one step ahead in the race to bring about a positive change in the hearts and mindsets of the society. A firm believer in the Mahatma’s credence-“ If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”- Ms. Chawla said that the main focus at school was to motivate and inspire students to live life to the hilt by following this pivotal world leader’s ideals and become assets to the society at large.
