“Very little is needed to make a happy life, it is all within yourself in your way of thinking” – Marcus Aurelius
In a world, where everyone tiptoes around the issue of special needs, it is hardly surprising that children are growing up totally insensitive to the needs of people with disabilities. But in St. Joseph’s Sr. Secondary School, our students are always educated to be more sensitive, empathetic and supportive of those with special needs. To make the students aware about the exceptional qualities of visually challenged persons, a visit to Tagore Theatre was arranged, where our students witnessed a Musical Act, presented by the National Association for the Blind, designed on the theme of White Cane Day.
Around 100 students along with their teachers admired the marvellous Musical Act, realizing that the onus is on every one of us to change the way society perceives disability. Hon’ble Principal Mrs Monica Chawla, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, was felicitated by the Association with a memento. She motivated the students to participate in such social welfare activities and added that our children must be apprised to live with a disability along with being taught to empathise not sympathise with the disabled so that this world can be made a better place to live in.
