‘Precaution is better than cure’. Keeping this in mind, a visit to Fire Station was organised for K.G. students of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh. The fire brigade team demonstrated the procedure of extinguishing fire. They donned fire proof costumes and guards, took the hose pipe attached with the fire engine and sprayed with full force on a tree to show its reach and impact. The students were excited to see and touch various machines and tools used in dousing the fire. They were also intimated about the precautions, helpline number and protective measure to be taken at the time of fire outbreak. Back in school, the teachers showed the children, fire extinguisher boxes placed at various places in the premises, for emergency usage. It was a unique learning experience for all the kids as they witnessed and acquired practical knowledge of putting out fire and the working of fire station staff.
