Students of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh got the unique golden opportunity to interact with Justice Jaswant Singh and the team of six advocates who had participated in the marathon cum walk that started from Delhi and culminated at the Open Hand Monument, Capitol Complex, Chandigarh in an attempt to impart some tips on the Rights and Duties as stated in the Constitution.
Being the only school in attendance, the students and their teacher were privileged to have a tete a tete with Justice who enumerated the Fundamental Rights and Duties provided to all Indian citizens by the Indian Constitution. He emphasized the need and importance for all Indians to be aware of their Rights and Duties for a smooth sailing in society.
The Josephians armed with hand made posters, slogans and banners impressed everyone at the gathering when they turned out to be well versed in their knowledge about their Rights and Duties, speaking at length about them. They were also treated to a sumptuous brunch thereafter which needless to say, they thoroughly enjoyed.
The students were elated to come back to school and thanked Mr. Sukhdeep Grewal and Principal Ms. Monica Chawla for giving them such a wonderful chance to gain some insight about such significant issues. Ma’am Chawla said that it was exposure to such hands-on experiences that set the learning apart at St. Joseph’s.
