The legal literacy club at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School marked the National Voters’ day by carrying out certain important activities. The in-charge of the legal literacy club Ms. Simran explained in detail the election procedure of India to the students. India being a thriving democracy, requires its youth to be aware of such important aspects. Students were also told about party symbols of different political parties in India. The purpose is to facilitate voting by looking at the symbol. They also represent the ideologies of the party and are indeed an important tool for voting.
The voter’s pledge that lay emphasis on upholding the democratic traditions of the county was also carried out. Around 300 students took the pledge.Thus, the National Voters’ Day was a great learning for the future citizens of the country. While many youngsters are apathetic about voting, they need to set their eyes on the future. Voting is their constitutional right. It is a right and a privilege that must be exercised, whenever it is election time.
The Principal Ms. Monica Chawla has always encouraged the participation of students in all kinds of activities, events and celebrated key occasions. This day was one such important day- a great learning for the youngsters of the school.
