St.Joseph’s Sen.Sec. School marked the occasion of Dussehra with various online activities and competitions. During this significant week, students learnt about Indian mythology and importance of Dussehra. The students of Kindergarten block commemorated the killing of demon Ravana by lord Rama with some entertaining activities. They made fascinating hand-outs of Ravana with the help of parents as demonstrated by their teachers in online class. A number of finger puppets were also crafted with the faces of Rama, Lakshmana Sita, Hanumana and Ravana. The teachers narrated the story of Dussehra with the help of finger puppets. Primary I Block conducted an activity in which students made face mask of Ravana, recited poems and bhajans. The teachers highlighted the importance of the festival and inspired students to follow the path of truth.
In Primary II block , a variety of craft activities were organised. The students made attractive masks, crown and finger puppets and dressed as Lord Rama, Sita, Laxman, Hanuman and Ravana and narrated and enacted the mythological scenes from Ramayana. Special emphasis was laid on the symbolic burning of the effigy of Ravana, showing the triumph of good over evil. The festive events presented by the Secondary Block students included short videos ,PPTs, self-composed poems , newspaper magazines, narration of Ramayana characters and puppet characters in which they showcased their talent in a creative and innovative way. Middle Block students did a Ramayana enactment in which Ravana took away Sita ji.The best entries of Secondary Block were ‘Dussehra Times’ (XF- Group Activity) and Craft activity (Geetanajli Thakur -XC),Puppet activity (Ishneet Kaur -IX F) and video show ( Aayush Ghai -IXC).
The Principal Ms. Monica Chawla congratulated the Josephites on the holy day and said that students should be aware of the Indian traditions .The festival season in India offers excellent opportunity to reinforce valuable life lessons through our Indian traditions. She blessed the students and inspired them to follow the path of truth.
