*Gandhi Jayanti Celebration*

To mark the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, famously known as Mahatma gandhi, ‘father of the nation’, the Kindergarten block of St Joseph’s Sr Sec. School, Sector 44D, Chandigarh, observed a weeklong celebration.

The students were taught about and were encouraged to follow the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi i.e.always speak truth, be positive, let the change begin from you, think before you act etc. through pictures, educational video and teacher-talk.

The students were educated to care for mother earth and keep the surroundings clean to make the earth worth living and a happy place for everyone, for which he worked throughout his life.

Following his teaching ‘live to learn’, the children of Nursery made round spectacles of paper rolls with the help of their teachers. Tiny tots even dressed up as Gandhiji, clad in white dhoti and wearing their handmade spectacles.

The students of PKG and KG showed their artistic skills as they made spinning wheel ‘charkha’ of Gandhiji by using ice-cream sticks, toothpicks & thread. They made beautiful drawings to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti.

The little ones were so influenced with his life and teachings that they promised to always speak truth, be non-violent and maintain cleanliness & enjoyed the activities to its fullest.
