Josephites Celebrate Christmas at PGI
“Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.”
Carrying on with its rich legacy to teach its students lessons for life and to share their happiness with all around them, St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School celebrated the most awaited occasion of Christmas at PGI this year as well. Even the ongoing pandemic failed to dampen the spirit of festivity amongst the Josephites. The teachers of the school visited the Advanced Cardiac Centre of PGI in guise of Santa Claus to turn ailing children’s imagination into reality and help them rejoice in the wonderful bliss. The occasion was happily celebrated by following all the safety measures taken by the school while meeting the patients. Dressed as Santa, they offered gifts to the children and spread happiness and joy on Christmas. Sanitization of the gifts was also done before they were presented to the patients as well as the staff.
The teachers of the school conducted various activities to make this day a memorable one for the patients who were stuck in the hospital ward to win over the ailments they were fighting with.
The empathetic Josephites decorated the entire ward area to add beauty to the patient’s joy. All the colourful activities were not less than a feast to their eyes. It was really a pleasurable moment to see the kids become a part of this celebration. The teachers made the patient kids forget about their pain by dancing with them and singing Jingle Bells.
Christmas gifts were presented to the patients as well as staff members of PGI. All the patients, staff members including the team of doctors were elated to see Santa in their ward. It was no less than a dream to see Santa in the hospital ward. Dr. Sham welcomed this kind gesture of the school for the patients and appreciated this step of the Josephite staff to bring smile on the faces of all.
The principal of the school, Ms Monica Chawla, thanked the concerned authorities at the PGI for allowing the school to go a step further in bringing a smile on the faces of the patients. She gave a message to the students, staff and patients to remain positive in all the situations and also stressed upon the need to share our happiness with the underprivileged in what all we do.
