The stress bug stings everyone irrespective of their age and stage in life. Keeping this in mind and also in order to prepare the students for upcoming examinations, St. Joseph’s Sen. Sec. School, Chandigarh organised an online interactive session for the students of the Secondary block of the school. The school counsellor, Ms. Manpreet Kaur , acquainted the students with various techniques, exercises, dos and don’ts to be followed to snap the stress.

The counsellor made the participants aware about the ill effects of stress on a student’s life and how it affects one’s ability to score good in exams. She also laid stress on the ways to manage anxiety during examination days. Ms. Kaur gave students various tips to make learning fun and long lasting. She instructed students to make mind maps, flow charts, easy to relate acronyms to relate well with the difficult topics so that they can easily learn-retain and recall them in the exams with ease.

 Ms. Manpreet, through a PowerPoint Presentation, imparted knowledge of the most common stress causing situations and urged the students to remain calm and do various exercises like the Lazy Eight, to divert ones attention  as well as to improve concentration to help them retain the content learnt for a longer duration. She also laid stress on the need to follow the routine, making notes, reading-writing-revising and revisiting the difficult topics again and again o fix them in the core memory.

The workshop was followed by Question and Answer Session which made the session more funfilled and meaningful. The participants, after the session felt enriched and confident to face and conquer examinations with confidence and courage. They thanked the school management for such an initiative to make learning more realistic and significant.

The school Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla lauded the effort and acknowledged the need to equip today’s learners with various ways to curb the growing stress levels in addition to the knowledge and training required for life. She assured the participants for arranging many more skill based sessions like this to take learning to the next level.
