St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec School marks its place in first–ever virtual, ‘The India Toy Fair 2021’
St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School rejoiced with joy as their educational toys were displayed at the first- ever ‘India Virtual Toy Fair 2021’. The school got short listed for the same based on its innovative, engaging and captivating educational toy created by enterprising team of teachers and students. The joy of the team grew by leaps and bounds. The fair was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India with a vision to make India a global hub for the Toy-World. The Toy fair which was free of cost post-online registration witnessed more than 1100 exhibitors and numerous viewers between 27th Feb-2nd March.
The toys displayed array of themes ranging from educational, traditional, scientific, do it yourself ( DIY) and digital demonstrating the disciplines of Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies etc. It targeted the students and teachers from foundational stage to senior secondary stage. The displayed toys were unique and singularly focused on skillful way to retain conceptual knowledge enhancing the motor skills, thinking skills, logic and reason.
The science educational toys and games like’ Science Detective’, ‘Springs and Drains’, Che’mystry” Ball and ‘Bin The Ball’ focused on learning phenomenon, environmental conservation and gamification in learning. Mathematical games like ‘Know your city in Shapes’, ‘Tik Tok Fun’ and ‘Arithmetic Ludo’ were designed make learning joyful, intriguing their Problem solving skills and tweaking Critical Creative Thinking. The English language toys like ‘Window of Opportunity’, ‘Tense Mania’, ‘Spell, Pronounce and Ideate ( SPI)’, Social studies toys like ‘Knowledge Express’ and ‘Exploring Mysteries of Nature’ and Hindi language toys were compartmentalized to augment learning with the aim of situational usage of the same.
The designed toys were durable, safe and cost effective, crafted using eco-friendly materials and local-specific materials. The toys which were designed with the pedagogy based on skills mapped and retention of conceptual understanding focused on open ended imagination and critical thinking skills amongst the learners.
Director Sir, Rupinder Singh along with the management members appreciated this learning and showcasing fair as it provided an opportunity and platform to construct playful learning and spend quality time together for the children and parents.
Appreciating the efforts and enthusiasm of all involved, sir said that as education is not learning of facts but training of mind to think, in this digitalized world it is essential to be determined, explore new avenues and offer learning forums to our students.
