BOOK DONATION DRIVE – JOSEPHIANS RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS

To spread the joy of reading, among the marginalized kids in slums and rural areas, St. Joseph’s Sen. Sec. School, Chandigarh participated in a Book Donation Drive started by Yuvsatta-NGO along with CCPCR (Chandigarh Commission of Protection of Child Rights, Department of Environment, Forests, SLSA-State Legal Services Authority and Earth Day Network India. It was called ‘Kitaban da Langar’ in which students donated their old book. They even donated their toys to bring a smile on the faces of tender-hearts. The mission of the drive was to develop a culture of reading as it takes a child a long way. The school was awarded a trophy for participating in such a noble cause which added to the previous list of laurels bestowed on Josephian family. Under this programme, more than 1100 books and about 200 toys were donated to needy children. Josephian family felt proud to share their storybooks, competitive exam books, English spoken books, novels, literature, books of moral values, books on scientists, personalities and writers etc. with the underprivileged children.
The Award of Honour was presented to the school Principal Ms. Monica Chawla and she passed on the credit to Ms. Minakshi Bhola, Accounts lecturer in Senior Secondary Block, parents and the students who contributed to make this drive a success. The NGO YUVSATTA-applauded the efforts of Josephites who had put in their 100% contribution for these kids in the times of Pandemic to keep them motivated to march towards achieving their targets of life.
The esteemed members of the school management Mr. Paramdeep Grewal and Mr.Sukhdeep Grewal along with the principal Ms. Monica Chawla appreciated the efforts of students as it will inculcate and imbibe good reading habits among young minds, especially school students. She encouraged them to continue with the same efforts in the future as well. Ms. Chawla added that books need to be made a part of the environment a child grows up in.
