True to their long held tradition, St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School , Sector 44 D always strives to make available to its teachers well-designed and effective training programmes and webinars under the flagship of Educator’s Carnival which give them the opportunity to acquire the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes required for the 21st century classroom.
In this series, a webinar by one of the most renowned educationist, academician and an eminent resource person’ Mr Ajay Kumar’ a seasoned speaker was organised for the staff members under the able guidance of the Principal Ms Monica Chawla titled “Learn the Techniques of Stress Management”.
The main aim of the webinar was to provide teachers with a platform for genuine connection amidst uncertainty, encouraging them to field their questions to the expert, generate mental health awareness among teachers and strengthen demand for integrated mental health and psychosocial interventions.
Mr Ajay explained that nowadays, it is more important than ever for each of us to find healthy ways to adapt to the constant changes and stresses caused by the pandemic. He was thrilled while sharing his expert insights and resources about the various reasons behind stress at workplace like:
*Pressure of multitasking
*Lack of Positive Reinforcement
*Uncertainty,Ethical Dilemmas
*Constant Comparison and inability to deal with certain colleagues.
He emphasized that the best ways to manage stress and mental health is to handle: ‘FOMO'(Fear of missing out) and apply JOMO (joy of missing out)
He added that work pressure, Physical & Mental Stress are encountered by the majority of the teachers. Moreover, today’s dynamic and fast-paced lifestyle though demands complete dedication but an excess of it leads to stress.He asserted that by using techniques like ‘Role Playing’,Practicing empathy, understanding ‘Good Child Syndrome’ and the most important’Learn to say no’ and practicing realistic introspection can help us to reduce the stress up to an extent.
The Webinar proved to be a great tool in understanding common reactions in ourself and others during the COVID-19 pandemic, what the teachers can do to look after themselves and manage feelings of stress, anxiety, or distress associated with COVID-19, and helpful resources and support.He emphasized on the need of stress management in today’s world and the teachers must be well equipped to deal with it. The interaction helped the participant teachers to realize the impact of stress and learn the techniques to cope up with it successfully.
The revered Principal Ms Monica Chawla complimented Mr. Ajay for his simplicity and immense wisdom that was evident, during his interaction with teachers as he unwearingly answered their questions that ranged from ways to handle stress, to live peacefully. She further added that the greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another. Mr Ajay expressed his delight at the academic achievements of the School. Drawing examples from the real life situations, Mr Ajay inspired all the teachers to lead by example and work from the heart. She concluded with a vote of gratitude towards the management for their continuous guidance and support.
