Sr. Sec. Block Josephians mark the Press Freedom Day
The power of the press and media is that it fervours necessary changes. In accordance with the same spirit, the World Press Freedom Day which is annually observed on May 3rd was commemorated by Senior Secondary students at St. Joseph’s. The students emphasised the value of the Press in today’s era as it has emerged as a powerful entity controlling the mind of the masses.
The students participated in a talk show and panel discussion via role-playing famous media personalities in an e- classroom meeting. Most of them opined that with new and rapid technological advancements in medicine, engineering, business, and other fields it is significant to portray the world without any filters by the free press. The liberated press is the greatest gift given to us in the form of newspapers, news shows and radio broadcasts.
Few students mooted at the role the press and news channels being politically biased and social media being responsible for rejuvenating political protest.
The students who bagged the limelight were Kushaal, Ishan, Lovepreet, Mannat, Gurnoor, Tanya, Pawanjit, Sanya, Inderpreet, Hardeep, Gurleen and Harsimran. They presented an informative video as well as expressed well-researched opinions along with rebutting wherever needed in the discussion.
The Principal Mrs. Monica Chawla supporting the art integration and experiential learning techniques used in the classroom via role-playing and conducting a talk show congratulated the participants and encouraged the students to stay updated, walk-on the righteous path and serve the nation in times ahead.
