ST.JOSEPH’S MARKED WORLD RED CROSS DAY WITH MEANINGFUL ACTIVITIES
‘You don’t have to be a doctor to save lives’
To mark the World Red Cross Day, the First Aid Club of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh conducted various activities. Every year, the 8th of May is celebrated as World Red Cross Day to honour the International Red Cross Crescent Movement founder Henry Dunant, who was born on this day in 1828. It is celebrated every year to pay tribute to the volunteers who participate in the event as well as welcome their invaluable contribution in helping people at the most crucial time during emergencies. Josephians were shown a PPT prepared by the First – Aid club which had detailed information and was followed by a worksheet. Students were made aware of the day’s significance. The Middle Block students recited beautiful poems and made posters in which the theme was depicted aptly. Students showcased their creativity and innovation in different ways. The Secondary Block students participated in a group discussion in which they emphasized on the aim of the celebrations. In the end, a tribute was paid to the volunteers who support millions of people in times of conflict, natural disaster and crisis. The day was dedicated to the people who suffer from the shortage of food, natural calamities, war and epidemic diseases.
The Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla was happy that young students took the initiative by participating in activities for the Red Cross, which is an institution by itself and has helped people in innumerable ways.
