“Learning is more effective when it is active rather than a passive process”

In the light of above, Innovative Pedagogy ‘3C’s programme was conducted by St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 – D, Chandigarh, for the students with the idea of teaching without books and bag. After the successful super invigorating Summer Camp followed by an equally efficacious Bridge Course students were welcomed back with the unique 3C’s Programme that has been the brainchild of Principal Ms. Monica Chawla which has been religiously followed whenever the students return to the curriculum, after a break. 3C’s curriculum is a comprehensive philosophy that seeks to create a social place of learning and knowledge where ‘Why’ is encouraged and ‘What’ is nurtured.

The school was all abuzz with ecstasy with the introduction of this new week long curriculum. Teachers used multifarious activities and tools like Peer mentoring, discussions,You tube links, worksheets, PPT’s, to make learning engaging and fun. Primary I, came up with all enriched activities to fuel the innate learning by stimulating the creative thinking like making of different kinds of houses and parts of plant using clay, Subtraction Tree & Shapes using matchsticks, describing themselves using different describing words in the petals of a flower, Sorting of Nouns etc. Wherein Primary II, students enhanced their vocabulary and communication skills through games, riddles, quizzes and beautiful models of Pronouns and Panda Activity, which is worth mentioning. Teaching digestive system through role play and vegetables proved very effective. Activity on lattice multiplication and crossword puzzles stimulated their capability and aroused their interest and curiosity in Mathematics, which students dread the most. Not keeping behind, Middle Block, introduced the topics to students in their curriculum, using new pedagogical tools such as Sematic maps, Guided Imagery, Interactive Presentations, Story Telling, Bookmark Technique, to name a few. Needless to say, the students thoroughly enjoyed the learning process and partook in all the activities, organised to make learning easy and fun, with full gusto and enthusiasm.

Members of the school Management, Shri Rupinder Grewal, Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, Mr. Sukhdeep Grewal and Mr. Paramdeep Grewal acknowledged the indefatigable efforts of the  Josephian faculty in constantly forging new paths into the realms of learning and congratulated the teachers for their efforts and successfully conducted the programme.

The programme concluded with the enlightened words of wisdom of Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla,   which motivated and encouraged the students. She said that the entire Josephian team is always geared up to fulfil the actual aim of education which is to enable students to understand the world around them and the talents within them so that they can become fulfilled individuals and active and compassionate citizens.
