Josephians Mark World Citizens Day
Celebrating the bond of Love and Respect with Grandparents
World Senior Citizens Day, August 21, is the day to let them know how much you care
and an opportunity to acknowledge their accomplishments. In the form of
Grandparents they are a family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy, the
greatest storytellers, and the keepers of the traditions. They are family’s strong
foundation. Through their special love and care, they keep a family close at heart. They
give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humour, comfort and lessons in life. A child
always needs the grandparents to grow a little more securely into an unfamiliar world.
With its strong belief in the overall and holistic development of the children, the Middle
Block of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School continues to instil values even in this
unprecedented times through the means of virtual gatherings. One such ceremonial
occasion was celebrated in the form of Grandparents’ Day depicting due respect and
admiration. Videos portraying the immense love and nurturing bond between the two
generations were shared with the children which helped to make them realise the
importance of being blessed with grandparents. It also served the purpose of sensitizing
them towards the changing needs of the elderly and how to cater to them, especially
during this pandemic.
Students, who these days have become hands on experts on expressing themselves
virtually, wrote and read out beautiful messages for their best buddies (grandparents)
and made videos while performing with them. They recited heart warming poems
dedicated to them. The celebration was filled with oodles of blessings, happy faces,
excitement and cheer as the kiddos of the Josephian Family displayed their love and
affection for their grandparents. Students of the Senior Block prepared a Punjabi Skit
to showcase their love and affection for their grandparents and these emotions were
reflected on the faces of all the grandparents while they were performing.
Grandparents’ Day celebration concluded with the words of the Principal, who stressed
upon strengthening the bond of the grandparents and grandchildren to infinity. She
stated that it was heartening to see the young students so keen to express their love and
added that celebrating this day provided the much needed opportunity to raise
awareness about issues that affect senior citizens and their quality of life. The day was overall filled with the mood of exultation and everyone seemed truly happy. It was, indeed, a successful event.
