SOCIAL SCIENCE FACULTY CONDUCTS QUIZ ON INDIAN HERITAGE
To assess the young generation of students about the link between their culture and heritage and the need for sustainable socio-economic development, the Social Science Department of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh conducted a Quiz on Indian heritage in the Secondary Block. The quiz was organized to sensitize the youngsters to the rich cultural diversity that is inherently Indian. Another aim of the quiz was to raise awareness among young learners about the conservation and management of the country’s heritage. Various –sub-topics like Eco heritage, Sports heritage and Transport heritage were included in the quiz. It also had questions on the cultural practices and Heritage of the different states of India under the topic ‘EK BHARAT, SHRESHT BHARAT.’ After hours of rigorous brainstorming, the quiz concluded with additional information gathered by all its participants. Ms. Navleen Nahar, HOD, Social Science Deptt. shared additional information on the concerned topics. She enlightened the students that their heritage linked them to their roots, culture, society and that to succeed in life, it was essential for everyone to hold on to their core values.
The School Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla, congratulated the participants and encouraged them to participate in various quiz competitions. She lauded the Social Science Faculty for conducting the quiz, which surely added to the knowledge of the students in the course of their preparation. She delved into the value of upholding one’s heritage and staying connected to one’s roots.
