A Walkathon to mark Wild Week Celebration
“The wildlife and its habitat cannot speak, so we must speak and we will.”
-Theodore Roosevelt
Change begins with a single step and every thought brings us closer to our goal. St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School collaborated with Yuvsatta and the Department of Forest and Wildlife, Chandigarh Administration to organize a “School Students Animal-Bird Walk’ to launch the Wildlife Week Celebrations. Along with students of class 5 and 6 of St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, students of Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School and Government Model Senior Secondary School, Dhanas also took part in this noble initiative with full fervor. Mr. DebendraDalai, Chief Conservator of Forest flagged off the walk and delivered a motivating speech on how the youth can make a tangible difference in preserving wildlife. The students dressed up as various animals captivated the onlookers by urging them to help save the wildlife through activities like skits and songs. The walk was substantiated with numerous placards displaying thought provoking messages to empathize with the animals who cannot speak for themselves. The students shared with all that as the most evolved species of the planet, we humans must be mindful of the fact that all life forms must co-exist in interdependence with each other to maintain the ecological balance.
The Principal Ms. Monica Chawla who is a strong proponent of conservation of environment lauded the efforts of the students and emphasized on the need for consistent and joint effort to save to our wildlife.
