‘World Post Office Day’ Celebration
Today, world has become a global village. Communication and information technology plays a crucial role in bringing the world close together. The early means of communication was the postal service. World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9th October The aim of celebrating World Post Day is to create awareness of the role of postal sector in people’s and businesses’ everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries.
The teachers shared the facts and stories behind this communication channel, its working, importance and various changes that have taken place in the postal service. They also discussed about the hobby of philately.
The Students were shown different types of mail, postage stamps, envelopes and letter box for dispatching & receiving the mail. They made post office scene by using their creativity and imagination. Some recited rhymes related to postman and dressed up also like him. The teachers made and shared an informative video also where they enacted a skit to provide knowledge.
Principal Monica Chawla appreciated the efforts and motivated the students that besides using e-mails and text messages, they should use this effective means of communication also, by posting handwritten letters and handmade cards to near and dear ones for they have more personal and affectionate touch.
It was truly a learning experience and a pleasurable day for the children.
