PAYING REVERENCE TO GURU NANAK DEV JI ON GURUPURAB
“Festivals give you a rainbow for the storm, a smile for every tear, a promise for every care, and an answer to every prayer.”
Religious festivals bring people closer and give opportunities to celebrate the rich culture, to recognise the oneness and spread the message of love, tolerance and understanding. St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School students celebrated Gurupurab, the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, with reverence and devotion. The celebrations commenced with a prayer. Students gathered relevant information about the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. A documentary related to the historical background of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was shown to the students. To mark the day, a quiz was also conducted on the Sikh religion and the teachings of the ten Gurus.
The students marked the day by sharing and exchanging the teachings and principles of the Sikh Guru, which act as a guiding light to help people follow the path of righteousness. The spiritual ambience of devotional ‘Bhajans’ and ‘Ardaas’ sparked a religious fervour in the air. Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings were brought forth by presenting a play that gave an important message to the children, to follow the path of humanity and help create a better world. Josephites sang the holy shabads and remembered the great Guru who preached about ‘One God’ and the ‘Eternal Truth. The Sacred Ardaas was performed, followed by the offering of the revered Prasad.
The School management members and Principal Ms. Monica Chawla, gave the message to follow the path of the Guru and learn from his life the value of peace, universal brotherhood and equality amongst people of all castes and religions. She wished the Josephian family on this auspicious day.
