Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav- Republic Day Celebration
Republic Day marks an important event in India’s history. It commemorates the enactment of the constitution of India which came into effect on January 26, 1950, and made the nation into a republic. This year the country is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Kindergarten block at St. Joseph’s Sr Sec School, Sector 44 D Chandigarh organized an extravaganza of activities. A ‘Fancy Dress Competition’ was organized for the kids of K.G. The theme was ‘Our Freedom fighters & national leaders. All the students enthusiastically participated in the competition as they got the opportunity to portray true patriots who are the embodiment of dedication, revolution and determination. Tiny tots came dressed up as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and so on. They confidently enacted the characters by highlighting their movements, slogans and speeches. The winners were adjudged on the basis of the content, confidence and presentation. The students of Nursery and PKG displayed their patriotism by drawing national flag and colouring the tableaux of Republic day parade. The event culminated with the singing of national anthem by all. Principal Monica Chawla and Coordinator Shimmi Jassal applauded the efforts of the students, wished them all ‘Happy Republic Day’ and encouraged them to become a responsible and aware citizen of the country.
