Josephians Kindle the Spirit of Hope on Lohri
Bidding adieu to the harsh winters, the ebullient festival of Lohri was celebrated virtually at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh, with full grandeur. Lohri is a customary welcome to usher in the joyous days of Spring and signifies a pleasant morning of hope. It is an important occasion – a thanksgiving festival especially for the farmers to show their gratefulness to the Almighty for good abundance and a rich harvest.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year the celebrations were held on the virtual platform, which were nevertheless just as vibrant and joyous as ever. The significance of the festival was shared in the online classes via activities such as Declamation and Paper Reading. Students, resplendent in their vibrant and dazzling traditional attires, danced to the reverberating beats of the Dhol as they presented the folk dances – the robust Bhangra and the effervescent Gidda from the safety of their homes. The clippings of the same were converted into videos which were then shared in the classes.
The Members of the School Management and the Principal extended their heartiest wishes on the occasion to students and staff. The festivities ended on a high note with the hope that as the fire of Lohri flourishes, all our sorrows will be incinerated in the pious flames of the bonfire.
