GIP – Republic Day Celebration
Everything that is really great and inspiring is created by the individual who can labour in freedom — Albert Einstein
This year India celebrated its 73th Republic Day. The day is celebrated to mark India’s complete independence, that took a long time to achieve finally. Freedom fighters like Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and a plethora more, fought courageously for the country to attain autonomy. It was on January 26, 1950 that the Constitution was implemented by the drafting committee headed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. It was also decided that the day should be observed all over India as Purna Swaraj Day.
To mark the occasion, girls of Middle Block, St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh, under Girls India Project, celebrated the day in collaboration with Kundan International School; Gmsss Dhanas and GHS, Government High Smart School, Sector 50 – B, Chandigarh. Videos were shown to students related to National War Memorial arousing patriotic fervour in all. Quizzes were organized on struggles of freedom fighters and National Bravery Award Winners. Students had prepared posters and flags made of materials indicating the ‘Best out of Waste’ theme. And finally recited the poems and saluted the National Flag, though virtually but with lots of love for ‘Mother India’.
Principal, Ms Monica Chawla, addressed the students and shared the excitement of the day with complete gusto and remembered the freedom fighters and their sacrifices and encouraged all to stand against injustice at all times and in all circumstances
