St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh was bubbling with religious fervour and enthusiasm on the occasion of Basant Panchmi, the auspicious festival of the Hindus, which marks the end of the winter season and the onset of the spring season in North India.
The ambience was filled with jubilation as the tiny tots of Kindergarten celebrated the festival by praying to Saraswati, the Goddess of wisdom and knowledge. Wearing clothes in yellow hues, they made kites and basket of yellow flowers and chanted Gayatri mantra. They were shown an informative video as to show why and how this festival is celebrated all over the country. All the students relished yellow colour food items.
The students of Primary Block demonstrated their creativity and innovativeness by making vibrant kites and writing messages on them to welcome the delightful Spring Season.
The students of Middle Block exhibited their art through poster making and by reciting poems and singing songs which made the day a melodious and a memorable one.
A video depicting the significance and the history of the festival was shown to the Josephians of the Secondary Block. Edu cators gave a talk to the students about the Hindu deity Goddess Saraswati, the epitome of learning, music & art.
The school Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla, appreciated the teachers’ efforts to encourage the students to be a part of the rich traditional Indian festivals.
