-Siddharth Katragadda
The Middle Block of St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School participated in the festivities of Baisakhi today through an array of vibrant activities. Baisakhi also known as Vaisakhi is the festival of hope that carries the motivation to start afresh with new zeal and enthusiasm. Every year on the 13th of April, the day is celebrated to mark its religious and historical significance, commemorating the formation of The Khalsa Panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. Apart from this, Baisakhi also signifies the spring harvest festival for both the Hindus as well the Sikhs.
The day was celebrated at school today with great fervour and fanfare. The traditionally dressed students danced to the bhangra beats filling the entire atmosphere with enthusiastic passion. The celebration also saw the sharing and reciting of beautiful poems by the students lauding the rich Indian culture. The students also recalled and revered the importance of Baisakhi as they witnessed the rich legacy of our nation through a skit. The entire school premises were filled with a spirit of piousness as the children shared shabads from the Gurbani. At the end, both the students and the staff joined hands to pay homage to the martyrs of Jalliawala Bagh, the massacre which unfortunately took place on this day. Everyone pledged to work in every possible way to bring peace and harmony in the world.
The students and the staff thanked the management members Ms.Rupinder Grewal, Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Mr. Sukhdeep Grewal and Mr. Paramdeep Grewal for giving them opportunity to celebrate each festival and help them connect with the rich customs and traditions. The Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla congratulated the students for their earnest endeavors to celebrate each festival with such great exuberance and for taking a step towards carrying forward the rich legacy of our country.
