Athletics aims at synchronizing a perfect balance amongst emotional, social physical and psyco-analytical domains of young minds. World Athletic Day was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School on 7th May keeping in mind to nurture all its students by imbibing the understanding the value of sports to create a world better then the one we have inherited.
The First world Athletics Day was observed in 1996. The basic objective of world Athletics Day is to boost the participation of youth in athletics. This event was introduced five years ago by the then President Primo Nebilo with the aim of increasing public awareness of the need to educate the youngsters in pratice of athletics. On the first occasion in 1996, World Athletics Day was themed around the Centennial Edition of Olympics games in Atlanta. Importance of this day has increased multi folded in the present era where sports act as stress busters. Students participated in different activity like relay race, 100, 400, 800 m race and hurdle race.
The winners were applauded. The principal Mrs. Monica Chawla motivated the students to participate regularly in such activities so that they can show continuous growth and progress through their keen pulsating desire that transcend the seedlings of dream into reality.
