To sensitize little ones about the Segregation of waste, an activity was done in Kindergarten block of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School
When we segregate waste, it reduces the amount of waste that reaches landfills, thereby taking up less space. Pollution of air and water can be considerably reduced when hazardous waste is separated and treated separately. It is essential that waste is put in separate bins so that it can be appropriately dealt with.
To sensitize little ones about the same, ‘Segregation of waste’ activity was done in Kindergarten block of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 D Chandigarh. Teachers demonstrated the students how to segregate dry and wet waste. They learnt to throw dry waste i.e. tissue paper, foil and paper pieces, empty plastic jars etc. in blue dustbin and wet waste i.e. fruit and vegetable peels, food scraps, fallen leaves and flowers in green dustbin.
They got the knowledge that wet waste is decomposed in soil and becomes good manure for plants and dry waste can be recycled.
Tiny tots were motivated to segregate waste properly and find ways in daily life to reduce, reuse and recycle resources that would help protect the environment.
