The Students of the Secondary block of St. Joseph’s School were given an extremely relevant and useful talk regarding Cyber Crime by the guest speaker Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma who is Incharge of all Legal Literacy Clubs and Legal awareness programs across the city. The talk was organized by the Incharge of the Literacy club of the Secondary block – Ms. Navneet.

Mr. Sharma spoke at length about various issues related to Cyber Crime. These included the role of social media, account details while shopping, the importance of sharing OTP and responsible forwarding of messages. He also spoke about Cyber Bullying that takes place on social media, messaging platforms, gaming platforms and mobile phones. He highlighted a key element on how face to face bullying and Cyber bullying can often happen alongside. The speaker raised a significant point that Cyber bullying leaves a digital footprint – a record that can prove extremely useful in providing evidence to help stop the abuse.

Students were also told about how to seek help by calling on the National Helpline number and were given tips on how to keep oneself alert against issues related to Cyber Crime.

Another significant aspect discussed which is necessary for young impressionable minds is Cyber stalking. Getting valuable information and tips by the expert, were indeed of great use for young vulnerable teenagers.

The Principal Ms. Monica Chawla has always encouraged such purposeful talks by expert speakers. She spoke of why children need to be aware of such crimes and emphasized on the role of schools to address such important issues and assist students in all ways, so that they do not fall victim to any kind of security threats. The aim of this talk was surely to have responsible and alert youth who can stand up against all odds in the future.
